How To Get Into Immworlds For A Presentation

Welcome to Immworlds!

Getting into Immworlds is easy! Just click on the URL in the email from your presenter or manager. Your web browser can be Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer, or Edge. It works best in Firefox, especially on older machines!

Basically Immworlds is a fancy interactive 3D web page. It works on just about anything with a modern web browser. This means Immworlds runs on big tower computers, laptops, tablets, Chromebooks, and even cell phones!

You will see some different avatars to choose from. There are over 100 different ones in Immworlds! Scroll sideways to choose the avatar that you want to represent you. Be careful and look at them carefully as some aren’t obviously male or female! Click the dot under the picture to choose. You will see a place to type in your name. Click on it and type in your name in there. Click ENTER. Give it a bit of time and you will see the avatar in front of you that you chose earlier from the chooser. Your name will be above.

Your browser will bring up a little window in the upper left where you can choose what microphone and audio out to use. If you are on a laptop, tablet, or phone the choice should be already in there. If you are on a desktop computer choose what speakers and microphone you have connected to it.

Turn the microphone on and off by clicking on the red highlighted microphone button the lower left. Click it again and it mutes your microphone. Red = muted, Green means Mic is on! Make sure to not be too far from your mic as you will be too quiet! Also give it a few seconds after you are in to click the mic button. It looks like a microphone and it is red initially.

On the lower left is a window that allows you to text chat with everyone there. Anything you type into the area on the bottom of this little window will show up on everyone’s chat box in the room. It is a good place to say “Hi” quietly and to ask questions of the person running the meeting. When you have typed your message in just hit return or click on send and it will show up in the World Chat box on the lower left of the window for everyone to read. You can move this little window by dragging it wherever you want it to be. You can also resize by dragging the lower right corner of the box.

The People Nearby window in the upper left tells you who is in that room with you. when a person is talking the talking light will be green and their lips will be moving.

You can walk around using the arrow keys on your keyboard. Up=forward, down=backward, left=turn left, right=turn right. If your avatar is going forward when you first move but the legs are not moving tap the down arrow key to move a bit backward. Then the legs should be moving correctly!

Choose a seat by clicking on the little ball on the seat. It will sit you down there facing forward. To stand again click the “Stop Animation” button in the upper right corner of your browser window. You will stand up and can walk around again. If there is no ball just click on the seat.

Look around with the right and left arrow keys. To zoom in and out scroll in and out with your mouse scroll button..

When you want to leave you can just close the tab you are in or shut down your browser. If you want to logout, there is a icon on the upper right that looks like an AC plug- just click it to log out.

Who Is the Metaverse?
Outline:

Hi Everyone! Welcome to the very first of hopefully many ImmTalks! Today’s talk is titled-
Who IS The Metaverse?
First some information about me!
My name is Steve LaVigne.
I have been involved in the Metaverse business, or what we call virtual worlds for over 18 years. I am Secretary-Treasurer of A Dimension Beyond, Inc, a small virtual world hosting and development company. ADB and Metaverse School GmbH in Germany have joined forces to bring you Immworlds. Immworlds is the brand name for a new type of Immersive virtual world built on Metaverse School’s cybaLOUNGE platform. Immworlds is totally web-based and works on anything with a modern web browser.
Our talk will be about 10 Minutes long with a discussion for 20 minutes and a short party later in the Welcome region.
So—Who IS the Metaverse?

Lets first take a short look at what got us here. Way back all we had was 2 dimensional web pages that were supposed to be gathering places. One such place was MySpace. MySpace is still around but nobody really uses it anymore. They had places to put up your pictures and post things for your friends to see and judge you on. Maria’s page here is a good example of what was available at the time. MySpace did not have live chat messages.

It also did not have real time voice chatting and no video chat. At that time the internet could not handle that because we were using 56K telephone modems!

A little later as internet service got a little faster, we got a quasi-3D world called Habbo Hotel. Habbo is a world where you have an avatar that looks like a Lego person. You could dress up your avatar and do a form of instant messaging to communicate. This was an early kind of 3D world. It was low resolution graphically. You could not build in it except to use what things they provided. It was primarily a social place for people to gather together. Believe it or not Habbo Hotel is still around today!

In the early 2000’s we got a step up with a fully 3 Dimensional virtual world called Second Life. In Second Life you could build whatever you desired with the in-world tools. Things like houses, trees, and clothes for your avatar became relatively easy to create. Millions of people signed up for Second Life. Thousands are still active there today.
Second Life has a true in-world economy using Lindens as the coin that is traded. You could also convert Lindens into real money if you wanted to. Early Second Life people had an interesting time there as the viewer that you had to download and setup tended to crash a lot! You could only type out your instant messages to communicate. Voice came several years later and was not all that great in the beginning!
The big thing about Second Life was that you could build anything you wanted to out of what they called prims and you could sell or trade them in the world using the Linden currency.

Second Life gathered a lot of people together that were building all sorts of things that they sold to other people as avatars.
Creators and builders could make real money after trading their Lindens for cash. Another first in Second Life was a scripting language and animations that you could make your avatar, or a vehicle or just about anything come to life! This made Second Life a place where you could have many things to do which kept people coming back. Second Life was so addictive that I was glued in there for almost 5 years!
Second Life is still going strong today! They have improved the graphics, and the avatars are really lifelike!

Shortly later, Second Life was reverse engineered into an open source world called Open Simulator. OpenSim as it is generally called works a lot like Second Life and is in some ways better. OpenSim has a function called HyperGrid where you can teleport to any of thousands of different grids hosted all over the world owned by many different people.

HyperGrid is actually the beginning of a true Metaverse. You can go to all these different grids and keep the avatar you have. You also have access to your inventory so you can shop in other grids and bring things back to your home grid.

So what do you get when you own or rent a region in your typical virtual world? Look at this slide. This is an undeveloped region in Immworlds. It is a lot of empty space. A lot of nothing really. A 64 acre blank canvas! Now we get down to the nitty gritty of who IS the metaverse!

The metaverse starts out as nothing but empty space. What do we need to fill that emptiness and turn it into something? Think carefully… We need people! We need people who can create a new world and make that emptiness into a beautiful place to be in. We need people like you who are creative and talented in many things. People to build structures that you can go to and gather-like inns, and stores, and houses, and places to dance. We need people to create animations so those people can dance, have animals to play with, and beautiful avatars and clothes for them to wear.

We also need people to set up and run servers in their homes and in data centers to host those virtual worlds and do the technical work to keep them running. That is a lot of what I do for A Dimension Beyond and Immworlds as we are a hosting company that hosts several types of virtual worlds. We need people who can dream up different new and exciting virtual spaces for people to gather and work in. We also need people to do the coding that makes it all work. We need people to keep it up to date, like Dieter and everyone at Metaverse School that we work together with, to create platforms that run virtual worlds like cybaLOUNGE, the platform Immworlds runs on.
The Metaverse is going to take thousands, maybe even millions of people to create places and things and to keep it going. It will also need millions of people to want to try out the wonderful places and virtual things that creators make to be a success.
One of the fun things about virtual worlds is that they are like the real world in many, many ways. You can do all sorts of things in a virtual world from having meetings and conversations with friends and co-workers, to playing games, or even falling in Love!

Virtual worlds when connected together in a way that you can go to many different worlds and keep your avatar and what you own will be the Metaverse. The Metaverse will be a well designed interconnected place for people to create and live in.
The key to this will the virtual world companies, large and small working together to make a metaverse of many grids owned by many different companies and individuals. We will need a set of standards and a group like IEEE to enforce those standards so everything works together and is a true Metaverse.

In the future there will be a multi-trillion dollar economy that will happen in the Metaverse. Thousands of jobs will be created around this Metaverse economy. Here are just a few examples:

First we need YOU in the world to enjoy it and make new friends. You will have conversations that will inspire you. You will go dancing at a fancy dance hall and have the time of your life! You might even decide to buy a premium membership or even rent your own region to hang out in.
We will also need…

3D builders and designers, to build buildings, and parks, and trees, and everything that is in the real world.
Avatar creators, are needed to build avatars, not only of people that are realistic looking, but also of animals, and fantasy creatures like Orcs, and Dragons, and Fairies.
We will need clothing designers to give all these avatars clothing to wear to enhance their appearance and take on different roles in the world like a businessman, or a priest, or a person in the Army, or on the starship Enterprise! The list here is endless!

Also needed will be instructional designers, and teachers, and curriculum creators, to make education work in a virtual world where students can thrive. Virtual worlds can become the place of choice where people will learn new skills.

Animators will create walks, and sits, and dances, to make everything move like it should.

Marketing people will also be needed to sell the products that everyone creates.

This is only the beginning of a much longer list. What most people don’t realize is that this so called Metaverse is in many ways a lot like the real world. There will need to be people who govern their virtual worlds and an over-seeing group to make sure everything works well together. In essence a consortium of worlds to make it all run smoothly and not fall apart.

We have a really big chance here to gather people together in peace, and with hopefully harmony, to have a really good place to communicate, and share with each other, and create a more tolerant real world. The Metaverse needs to be open worlds, where people can share, and meet freely, and exchange their thoughts, and dreams.

The metaverse needs to run on many devices and operating systems. The metaverse should not need to have special hardware like headsets to be enjoyed by it’s inhabitants. The Metaverse should be universal- there for everyone including those with special needs!

When you are in a virtual world you will meet a diverse group of people as avatars that live all over the world. They all have different dreams, and cultures, and needs. You will grow to better understand that everyone is valuable to all of us, and worthy of being here. Your view of the world will evolve!

YOU are the Metaverse. By your participation, and creations, and sharing your love and talents, you will make the Metaverse and our real world a better, more tolerant place to live in!

How To Get Into ImmTalks!

Immtalks is hosted in Immworlds, a web-based virtual world.

When you come in you will see a region loading sequence, then you will be in the room with a window overlay that says “cybaLOUNGE” at the top left. (cybaLOUNGE is the platform that Immworlds is built on.) The GUESTS tab should be highlighted orange. You will be going in as a guest. Scroll sideways and choose your avatar that you want to represent you. Be careful and look at them carefully as some aren’t obviously male or female! Click the dot under the picture to choose. You will see a place to type in your name. Click on it and type in your name in there. Click ENTER. Give it a bit of time and you will see the avatar in front of you that you chose earlier from the chooser. Your name will be above.

Immworlds Keyboard Shortcuts

Here is a list of the Immworlds keyboard shortcuts. You can do things with these shortcuts that you cannot do with just a mouse!

When you are flying use the E and D keys for up and down – Think Elevate and Down!

When you are sitting use these keys to settle into your chair.
U for up
D for down
F for forward
B for back
L for left
R for right
Remember that these are in relation to the region you are in so you will have to experiment a bit to see what does what and use these keys that way.

Walking and general getting around:
Up Arrow for Forward or W
Down Arrow for backward or S
Right arrow for turn right or D
Left arrow for turn left or A
These can be used in combination to walk in a circle or smoothly go around a corner.

When sitting or on a pose ball:
Up arrow is zoom in
Down arrow is zoom back
Left arrow pans to the right or clockwise
Right arrow pans to the left or counterclockwise
Remember these are camera moves-not you moving-and the camera lets you look around. You can zoom in to your head and zoom way back to the edge of the region.
You can also zoom and pan all over the place with your mouse when you click on the camera icon in the bottom left.

Metaverse/Virtual Worlds Best Practices: Walk Before We Run!

Using virtual worlds instead of in person learning requires some thought put into several things. At Immworlds we have been working on this and with this for over 15 years. This has given us some good insights into what it takes to transition to 3D virtual learning. This note is just the tip of the iceberg of what will need to be considered but it should be enough to get your thoughts going in the right direction on the subject!

At Immworlds we have a number of people wanting to immediately implement a virtual world that will hold many thousands of students at once. They think that this will happen overnight. It definitely will not! There is a lot of work to be done first. You want to dip your feet into the water carefully before you leap in. Let’s not set ourselves up for failure!

We have thought about this quite seriously over the years. Here are some ideas to think about.

3D Virtual schools should happen somewhat slowly so as to ensure a success. When you are doing this pick a small number of classes that would be easily taught in a virtual environment. Some examples would be core subjects like math, English, civics and social studies. These classes are really more lecture classes. You can take them to the next level in a virtual world with innovative thinking and gamification and AI down the road, but first get used to the basics of teaching as an avatar to other avatars.

As a teacher you will discover that the prep work is a lot different and classroom control is also different. Prep time, at least in the beginning will take longer as you will be presenting differently. You will be able to save your environment easily so you can use it later and improve the prep time in the future.

In Immworlds you can create a learning environment specifically for a lesson or group of lessons. That environment is persistent until you want to change it. You can then save that environment to your personal computer easily for later use. It only takes a minute to drag and drop a different virtual environment or scene into your region. (A region is a pre defined virtual space that you as owner have control of.)

You will want to learn how to make your virtual spaces come alive because as the owner you can change everything in the space. You will want to learn how to build in-world and import 3D objects like demonstration objects and new class and social spaces for your students. You will want to learn how to script objects and create animations for avatars for things like dances and animals moving or a NPC (Non-Player Character) so they can answer questions or give out information or even interact with your students.

As you see you don’t just jump in and Voila! everything is there for you. At Immworlds we have a bunch of pre-built environments for you to start with but you will want to make them yours with different furniture, color schemes, and wall decor just like your traditional classroom.

The first clients for Immworlds will need to get training on how to use the world and the basics of building and scripting inside Immworlds. The first teachers we work with will want to show other teachers and even students how to create in and use Immworlds. You might even want to create classes for students in 3D virtual design, as it will become a very important skill in the future. We will also show you about importing things you build using outside apps like Live Home 3D and Blender and Make Human. You can import 3D objects into Immworlds in several different common formats. Most imports are simply drag-and-drop right into the scene.

At Immworlds we want to provide the best customer support that we can provide to you. We are in the process of creating and improving our support wiki which is accessible right inside Immworlds.

Our first clients will be more like a pilot program with our clients more like partners where we share our discoveries and work to engage together to improve our client’s knowledge and abilities in a virtual space and improve Immworlds to do even more for the people using Immworlds. Our first build-outs for clients will be limited in size to make sure everything works as expected and avoid pitfalls.

Immworlds is not a be here today-gone tomorrow sort of product or company. We will be here in the long term to work together to make your experience and Immworlds the best it can be. Let’s work together on smaller projects that we both can handle at first and then grow together into something wonderful!

Immworlds 101: First Steps Into The Next Dimension!

Syllabus:

Immworlds 101 is designed to help you understand the basics of how Immworlds works and give you a head start on easily working in a 3D virtual environment. Here is what you will learn:

1. How to get into Immworlds – the login panel
A. Guest login: Name and avatar choice
B. Registered Users: How to register-avatar name, First, last, Password, and Email. then confirmation of user.

2. You’re in!
A. How to move around, arrow keys, WASD, Backup first to start animation.
B. How to sit. How to adjust sit. use of U,D,F,B,L,R keys to adjust your sit. How to stand up by clicking on STOP ANIMATION in upper left corner.

3. People Nearby Window. Shows who is in the region with you and if they are available for voice chat. Icons in the window are:
Speaker icon is for muting someone
Phone icon starts a private voice call with that user
Camera icon is for starting a 1 to 1 video call
Flag icon brings up a window in user’s world begging for attention like raising your hand
Mic on-off indicator. Red=off, Green=on, Grey=not in call, Yellow=in call but not in range
(Chat range is set in Region Settings by region owner.)
… icon is for a private text chat between 2 people
Region owner will see a BAN icon here to ban a user. Be very careful with this!
TALKING icon tells who is talking at that time. Also useful to see if a person’s microphone is working in Immworlds!

4. Icons on the interface starting upper left:
A. Plug icon- logs you out of Immworlds
B. Circle arrow icon. re-logs you like restart
C. ? icon-Brings you to our help Wiki
D. Wall of fire icon- Turns off collisions. You can walk through walls!
E. Paper airplane icon-You can FLY!

A. World Chat on-off button hides World Chat window and brings it back. You can save your chat with the copy button. To use World Chat (Text Chat) Click on the empty space below the window. You can move and resize this window and even make it disappear.
B. Voice Chat. Microphone on and off red for off, green for on
C. Camera icon-allows you to freely move the camera all around with your mouse. ESC key turns it off
D. Hammer/Wrench icon. Immworlds in-world building system. Stay out of here for now until you have training!
E. People icon- Brings up Friends and People Window. This shows your friends and all users on the platform so you can make new friends and share with them.
Friends tab shows who is in-world by highlighting as green.
F. Pin icon. Brings up location selection window. Find new places and find out about events!
G. T-shirt icon. Lets you choose from over 100 built-in avatars to be you in Immworlds. Also remember you can also create your own avatar in readyplayer.me
H. Running Guy. Animation editor. You can create animations for avatars inside Immworlds.
I. Satchel icon. When you are a registered user you can have inventory that you can use in Immworlds. You can use your inventory in many ways here and shop for new pieces!
J. Rolodex Card icon. This is for creating your profile in Immworlds! What do you want people to know about you. You can also change your password here!
K. House icon. This is the place to set up location properties. You have to own the region to change it!
L. Settings icon. Here you can change many things about how you interact with Immworlds.

At Immworlds we do things a bit differently! One of the big original design ideas was to build an easy to use virtual world that we would want to use and be in. We wanted a virtual world that even Grandma could use even if she was the ultimate technophobe.
That is why you can get into Immworlds as a guest and not have to register to join in on a great discussion or have a family meeting. The guest interface is purposely simple to eliminate all the things a guest would not need to use like inventory or a friends list.
If you want to really dive in and become a registered user then there are more selections for you to choose from.
Immworlds is easy to get into too. Just click on a URL (Web address) and you are in! put in your name and choose an avatar and the world opens up with you inside.
To get around you walk and look around with the arrow keys on your keyboard, or if you are on a tablet or phone you have a joystick device on your screen to use. It only takes one hand to move around in Immworlds and the movement is natural and precise. You can even fly in Immworlds using the same controls!
At Immworlds we understand that one of the biggest barriers to usability is complicated ways of doing things in a new application. We have purposely designed Immworlds to be very easy and intuitive to use.
For people who have handicaps we have also made Immworlds with things like speech to text and other features to enable people to use our world.
At Immworlds we understand that real people are using our products. We want to make communication and collaboration as easy as possible to include every person that has an internet connection and a computing device to be able to enjoy good times together.

Immworlds works anywhere in the world that has internet service. This means you can have friends, family, co-workers and fellow students just about anywhere. Immworlds is very simple to use and simple in it’s design. There is nothing needed to use Immworlds beyond a regular web browser like Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Brave, and most others for computers, tablets, and phones.
There is no extensions or plug-ins to download to make Immworlds work either. This ensures that Immworlds has very few vectors for attack and intrusion.
A major security factor is that Immworlds is fully SSL encrypted in the world and in voice and Instant messaging (chat). At Immworlds we don’t keep any old chat messages or other instant messages. When the last person leaves a region all the chat is erased and is no longer there. You can save a copy of your own chat if you like by clicking the copy button below the chat window.
Immworlds also does not keep anything in information about other than your avatar name and your e-mail address for verification.
Privacy is a very big thing at Immworlds!
Immworlds has been designed from the ground up with all original code. Our coding team consists of professional security experts that work for some of the largest companies in Europe. Metaverse Welcome Plaza is a little heavier region so might not work well with older machines.

On the lower left is a window that allows you to text chat with everyone there. Anything you type into the area on the bottom of this little window will show up on everyones chat box in the room. It is a good place to say hi quietly and to ask questions of the person running the meeting. When you have typed your message in just hit return or click on send and it will show up at the top of the box for everyone to read. You can move this little window by dragging it wherever you want it to be. You can also resize by dragging the lower right corner of the box.

The People Nearby window in the upper left tells you who is in that room with you.

You can walk around using the arrow keys on your keyboard. Up=forward, down=backward, left=turn left, right=turn right.

Look around with the right and left arrow keys. To zoom in and out scroll in and out with your mouse scroll button..

When you want to leave you can just close the tab you are in or shut down your browser. If you want to logout, there is a icon on the upper right that looks like an AC plug- just click it to log out.

Immworlds Computer Requirements

Minimum computer requirements for using Immworlds.

Immworlds runs on a lot of devices. We have tested a number of them and have found out the requirements and limitations of the current browser technology. Here are the devices that work best on Immworlds!

Windows, Mac or Linux:

CPU: i5 or later. Preferably i7 at least quad core or the new Apple processors
RAM memory: At least 8GB of RAM. More is better!
Graphics: Any newer machine (3 years old or less) with 8GB of RAM should handle Immworlds just fine. Having a good gaming card helps a lot as virtual worlds are graphics intensive.

Tablets: any good tablet that still is getting updates from the manufacturer should work OK. Try to have a tablet that is less than 3 years old!

Chromebooks: Any Chromebook with 4GB of RAM built in the last 3 years should work pretty well on most virtual spaces in Immworlds.

Cell phones: Any smart phone that is a better one- IE not free- that is 3 years old or less should work with Immworlds. Flip phones will NOT run Immworlds!

Some notes:

Firefox browser works best with older devices than Chrome as Google tends to update Chrome away from older graphics systems rather quickly. Firefox does not change graphics so fast and supports older machines better in the long run.

Older Windows machines with only 4GB of RAM (and new cheap Windows 11 machines with only 4GB of RAM) will struggle in some virtual spaces. You will experience problems with low frame rates and possibly voice issues as well as your machine struggles to keep up with what 3D live graphics needs to run. To help this somewhat you should optimize your machine with something like CCleaner to clean up the registry and and eliminate all not needed startup items like Word and other things. You should also just have one app running-your web browser. Quit all other apps that are on like Word, Skype, and other resource hogs. If you are only running your web browser and nothing else on an older machine you will most likely get along OK. Also remember to close all extra unused tabs in your browser too as they also take up RAM needlessly. Another good idea is to restart your computer before you login to Immworlds so all is running in a fresh environment.

If you are having issues with voice not working in Immworlds just ask us for our tech sheet on voice!

Also some virtual spaces are more graphics intensive than others. This means that your computer will work really good on some and not so well on others. At the top of the screen next to the region name there is a number in parentheses. That is the current frame rate you are getting in that space. At Immworlds we have been working to create lighter regions that work well on most machines. Some of our regions are a bit heavier graphics wise. Lighter regions work best on older machines!

Educational Locations To Check Out

Educational type places to check out in Immworlds!

Some notes before you go and explore!

All these locations on https://metaverse.community. You can access all of them after you are inworld. They are in the pin icon at the bottom middle of the window. You can also access them directly by just clicking on the link and going in directly as a guest.

Some of these locations require more graphics power than others. Particularly #s 1,5,9,10,and 11. If you have an old computer or less than 8GB of RAM on your machine you might experience slower frame rates on these locations. Your current frame rate in-world is the number to the right of the region name on top in parentheses. if your frame rate is below 10-15 your movements will be somewhat choppy. We have a sheet that offers help with this. Just ask!

All of these locations can be modified for you with different colors, furniture and branding. We can also create outside places to gather for a change of scene.

One thing you should do is check out all these places with a sample of the machines that your people use and see which ones work best. This will give you a good idea of which type of virtual space you can use for your needs.

One last thing. Please don’t just drag a pile of people into a location at one time. Virtual worlds are still in their infancy and most people have never heard of them and probably have never been in a virtual world. At Immworlds we recommend that you take in smaller groups at a time so you can show them how it all works and address their needs and concerns. This will give them a much better first experience and not scare them away! One of our people can be available to help get this started. Just contact Steve and make an appointment!

This is a 60+ person auditorium on one end with 10 offices and a large central area for things like dances and space for maybe a small convention. On the opposite side is a gathering lounge on the first floor and a bigger main office upstairs for smaller meetings and gatherings.

2. Metaverse Welcome Plaza:

A platform in a starry space with rotating rings and lots of color. On the first floor are spaces to converse and meet people and on the second floor ring there is a set of how-to panels for new users and some teleport links to some locations in Immworlds.

3. The Conventional Classroom:

This is a traditional classroom with seating for 12 that is like any regular teaching space. It has lots of room for wall hangings and room for more than 1 presentation board.

4. Class/Meeting/Stage Space:

This is a class space for 14 that is richly appointed that also includes a Google Docs board and a presenter board. It would make a good space for small group presentation or discussions. It also makes a nice place to do machinima/video productions/podcasts, etc in.

5. Mini Campus Demo

This is a built out virtual space with a library, a diner, classroom, and meeting /presentation room. It was built as a demo of a small campus for our presentation at VWMOOC 2021. All the rooms can also be put in separate virtual spaces if you like!

6. Art Gallery

This is a rather large space set up as an art gallery with lots of wall space for art as well as tables for sculpture. A great place to show off your creative side!

7. Human Resources Office

This is a 2 room office with a desk and some presentation easels in the front office and a round table with chairs in the back office. A good place for Instructors to use or for small group meetings.

8. Bi-Level Meeting Room

This room is set up for presentations for small groups. It could be easily refit as a classroom or as a break/hangout space.

9. Metaverse House Showcase

This is a rather heavy region and will not work well on lesser computers. When you go there give it a minute or two to ramp up. This is a built-out island with several different areas on it to showcase different building types. It is set up like a park. All of these can be customized and also put in different virtual spaces.

10. Community Center

This is a park like location with several buildings. One is like a recreation hall with a stage for a band or speaker. Another is a large building set up like a nightclub with different gathering places in it. This space has lots of space with water and places to hang out with friends.

This is another rather heavy region. Here there is a space set up like the middle of a town with roads and various demo houses and other buildings.

12. Traditional University Lecture hall

This is a standard University lecture hall that holds about 32 students. It also has 3 presentation boards in front. This location was built using the built-in tools in Immworlds.

Having issues with voice in Immworlds?

Here are some solutions!

The first thing to remember is that whatever operating system you are running a web browser is going to follow what the computer uses as it’s default connections for audio in and out. On a laptop or a tablet generally that is the internal microphone and speakers.

Here is a place on the web to test your microphone. it has instructions on the bottom for several different operating systems including Mac and Linux:

When you first log in to Immworlds your browser will have a little window come down asking to set the camera and microphone to be used. Make sure the microphone listed is correct and check the box making that setting the default, then click OK.

That is the first thing to look at. If you can hear people in Immworlds through your speakers, then that part of voice is set up correctly. If you cannot then you need to look in the audio settings and make sure that your device is set up to use what speakers you are using as the output device.

In Immworlds when you first come on it will take a few seconds for voice to start working on your computer. When everything is ready you will see a red icon with a microphone picture in it down in the lower left. At this point your microphone is muted and no one can hear you. When you are ready to talk click the red button and and it will turn green. You will also hear a voice say “You are now unmuted”. The button will then be green. when you are talking or making other noises with your mic on you will also see the word talking light up in the People Nearby window in the upper left. The talking indicator is a good simple test to see if your Mic is working as when you talk it will flash.

Remember to turn off your mic when you don’t want us all to hear what is going on around you like when the phone is ringing or your dog is barking!

Also make sure your speaker volume is turned up and your audio out is not muted on your computer!
Are you on a VPN? Some VPNs work and some do not. If you are on a VPN try connecting to Immworlds directly without the VPN.
If voice is still not working you might be behind your company’s firewall. Your IT department is blocking ports on your connection that have to do with audio. Here is a list of ports that need to be open for voice to work correctly.

All of these Ports need to be opened in order for Freeswitch to run as intended.

If you are having issues after making sure your computer is set up correctly hopefully your IT department can help you with ports to get voice working correctly.

Creating new virtual spaces in Immworlds is also easy. There are in-world building tools and you can also import 3D environments by a simple drag and drop. You can also save your environments by exporting them to your own computer. In Immworlds you have complete control of your assets!

Immworlds is also very secure. All the world you see is encrypted using SSL including the voice functions. This means that you don’t have to worry about somebody listening in on your meetings and classes or anything else. Immworlds also does not log what people do inside as there is no need to. What happens in Immworlds STAYS in Immworlds!

– You can import .pdf and other documents to hand out by a simple drag and drop. A student just clicks on the document you dragged inworld (inworld is into the 3D world in your browser) for their own copy to download.
– Also available are pointers and timers and the like that you just drag inworld. There is no complicated scripting to deal with as everything is just there for you to utilize.
– The Immworlds System has over 100 available avatars (Avatars are representations of people inside the region or world) in a variety of looks and genders. You can change your look easily by just choosing another avatar from the chooser. You can also import avatars from https://readyplayer.me to have a really nice looking custom avatar that looks just like you or anyone else you like!

– The Immworlds Virtual World System comes with an inworld building system so you can easily create different environments without going to outside apps. If you do want to use outside apps to import content into your virtual world you can import any .glb .GLTF or .DAE file into Immworlds Virtual Worlds. We especially like an inexpensive, easy to use app called Live Home 3D. (https://livehome3d.com)It is a quick way to create an immersive environment for your students.

The Immworlds Virtual Worlds System is very secure. Immworlds has been designed from the ground up by a security engineer that works with some of the largest corporations in Europe. We use SSL encryption on on everything. The world, voice and chat functions are all encrypted. What happens in your classroom stays in your classroom!

Immworlds News- What’s next?

Do you want to learn how to use Immworlds? Welcome to Immworlds 101!

Let’s get together for a meeting where we can teach you how to use Immworlds and some of the features of Immworlds. This way you can show your people an environment that they will say WOW! to. We should meet in small groups of under 10 and I will show you how to get around and use the various features Immworlds offers. Then you will be ready to share Immworlds with your colleagues and be up to speed on everything!
